Which then prompted me to look at the highs and lows of each of the candidates:

Ron Ball
highest - 40.4% Stratford-on-Avon
lowest - 26.8% Warwick

Fraser Pithie
highest - 41.7% Stratford-on-Avon
lowest - 24.7% Nuneaton & Bedworth

James Plaskitt
highest - 45.8% Nuneaton & Bedworth
lowest - 17.9% Stratford-on-Avon

I suspect that both Pithie and Plaskitt have looked back to see where they might of done better, and I agree with you that the breakdown of Ball's second preference votes (had he been knocked out in the first round) would have been the hardest to call.Dan Essexhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02187095644493464497noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7270519116653924891.post-33256395793492785982012-11-19T07:37:57.525+00:002012-11-19T07:37:57.525+00:00The more interesting point (at least in my view) i...The more interesting point (at least in my view) is that here in Rugby, we were the only district who voted for Ron Ball on first preferences*. The other five Warwickshire districts voted for either Plaskitt or Pithie first.

Does Rugby have a streak of Independence? Or did Ron Ball work Rugby particularly hard compared to the other areas?

However, the point is that without Rugby's anomolous result it is likely that it would have been a Pithie/Plaskitt run-off. I wonder how the Independent's second preference votes would have split?

*(Source: The Rugby Observer website) Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
